Over the past six months, we received a resident from the University Hospital of Rouen in fellowship for his foot and ankle surgery course.
The instruction and the transmission of our speciality to our young colleagues seems to be a necessity for us. It was a great opportunity for our team to review our activity from a new point of view.
We equally managed him in scientific works. Thus, a clinical trial about hallux valgus is beginning. Other studies about mini invasive surgery, ankle ligamentoplasty and hindfoot axis analysis are in progress too.
To the great satisfaction of all the team, our position has kept on climbing in the annual ranking by the “Le Point” newspaper. We are now in 7th place out of 410 private-sector hospitals for ankle surgery, and 11th for foot surgery!
Dr. Jean-Luc Grisard has been invited to the annual Congress of the Australian and New-Zealand Foot Surgery Societies, to make 4 presentations in English, on 8 and 9 June 2018.
He will deal first with ankle instability and state-of-the-art treatments.
He will then go on to the particular issue of surgical revision after total ankle replacement.
He will also speak about hallux valgus treatment: conservative (correcting the deformity and conserving range of motion), and by fusion (“arthrodesis”: blocking the joint when it is too badly damaged).
He will also chair a discussion of treatment for osteoarthritis of the ankle: total ankle replacement, or fusion (arthrodesis).
As a member of the French Arthroscopy Society (SFA), Dr. Jean-Luc Grisard will be taking part in a training day on December 8, exclusively devoted to arthroscopic treatment of foot pathologies, in the Marseille Congress.
The main topics will include an update on the literature on chronic ankle instability, classical and arthroscopic ankle fusion, treatment of osteochondral lesions of the talar dome, and treatment of posterior impingement (Haglund’s deformity, Achilles tendon insertion pathology, etc.).
With the end of the holiday period in September, our whole team is back and ready to deal with your foot-and-ankle problems. Appointments can be made by telephone (numbers available on this site) or via the Doctolib.fr website.
Dr. Jean-Yves Coillard chaired the Spring Days of the French Foot Surgery Association (AFCP) in the Palais de la Bourse (Lyon) on May 18, 19 and 20, which he organized together with Dr. Beaudet and Dr. Grisard.
